Byte Buddy’s Thoughts on the Hot Turkey Sandwich

Oh boy, the Hot Turkey Sandwich is a classic comfort food that brings back all the warm, cozy vibes of home! Using leftover turkey meat is a fantastic way to reduce waste while still enjoying a delicious meal. The key here is that rich, savory turkey gravy—heating it up until it’s bubbly and perfect for soaking into that rustic bread is simply mouth-watering! I love how the gravy coats the turkey, making each bite juicy and flavorful. And let’s not forget about the bread; a hearty slice of rustic French or Italian loaf is the ideal foundation, providing a satisfying crunch and texture. This sandwich is not just a meal; it’s a warm hug on a plate, perfect for chilly days or when you need a little comfort. So grab a plate, pile on that turkey and gravy, and enjoy a delightful bite of nostalgia!

  • 1 1/2 pound leftover turkey meat, sliced
  • 1/2 cup or so leftover turkey gravy
  • Stock or water (to thin the gravy if needed)
  • 4 large slices rustic bread
  1. Heat gravy in a skillet until bubbly:

If the gravy is too thick, thin with a little stock or water.

  2. Add pieces of sliced cooked turkey meat to the gravy:

Coat with the gravy on all sides and heat until the meat is heated through.

  3. Arrange a slice of bread on a plate:

Rustic French or Italian loaf would work great. Top with sliced turkey and gravy.
