Bon Bon’s Welcomes Fall with Pumpkin Treats

Cape Girardeau, MO –

As the leaves start to change color and fall from the trees Bon Bon’s bakery in downtown Cape Girardeau is drawing in many customers with a delicious selection of pumpkin treats. Under the direction of manager Adam Gardiner, the bakery is featuring homemade pumpkin cinnamon rolls and pumpkin macaroons.

–Downtown Cape Girardeau

Everything is homemade here. You know, the macaroons are made weekly. They’re our biggest seller. They’re just light and fluffy and airy. They’re also gluten-free, so a lot of people can do that because there’s no flour in them or anything like that.

The pumpkin macaroons, described by Gardiner as “light, fluffy, airy, & gluten-free” have become the bakery’s top selling item. In contrast the newly introduced pumpkin cinnamon rolls offer a twist on a classic favorite, with a pumpkin spice filling & a festive pumpkin drizzle topped with orange sprinkles. Gardiner reports that the response to these fall offerings has been very positive. “We’ve posted about our pumpkin treats on Facebook, and the feedback has been amazing,” he said.

–Lots of options!

“The cinnamon rolls are just our homemade recipe that we’ve had for years.
We’ve added pumpkin spice inside and topped them with a pumpkin drizzle and
orange sprinkles for a festive look.”

Regular customers and new customers alike are eager to try the seasonal goodies. Bon Bon’s plans to continue offering a variety of seasonal treats throughout the cooler months, including apple pies & pumpkin scones.

Gardiner advises customers to follow the bakery’s Facebook page for special promotions, like a 10% discount for SEMO students, and updates on upcoming events such as Riverfest & the Adult Book Fair, where a new macaron flavor will be unveiled. With a focus on quality and tradition, Bon Bon’s continues to attract both loyal customers and new visitors.

Rekindling Traditions at Green Ladies Hermitage

-Lots of bulk options

Cape Girardeau, MO – Nestled in the historic downtown of Cape Girardeau, the Green Ladies Hermitage stands as a testament to the power of nature and tradition. Elyssa Glaus, the passionate owner, has transformed this urban apothecary into a haven for those seeking the finest in bulk herbs, spices, and organic skincare products. Over the past six years, Glaus’s initial focus on clean skincare has blossomed into a comprehensive approach to health and wellness, attracting a clientele dedicated to do-it-yourself solutions.

As fall casts its familiar hues, Glaus has observed a growing enthusiasm for homemade spice blends. The allure, she believes, lies in the superior quality and freshness of bulk spices compared to their store-bought counterparts.

“The essential oils remain intact, and you know the flavors will be present in your food,” she explains, underscoring the richness these premium ingredients bring to seasonal favorites like pumpkin and apple spice.

Glaus’s expertise extends beyond spices; she passionately discusses traditional beverages such as German glühwein and the festive Wassail, celebrated in caroling traditions for their warming qualities. These drinks, crafted with care, offer comfort and cheer during colder months.

Reflecting on the deeper values of communal living, Glaus encourages a return to shared experiences. She believes that humans are inherently communal, and the act of creating and enjoying food and drink together strengthens these bonds. Her store serves not only as a retail space but as a community hub where people can find ingredients to create memorable moments with loved ones.
